Cafe Renae

Something I find very important amidst the chaos of running a business and taking care of my family is routine. It has been so helpful and crucial that I develop good (and delicious) habits each morning to start my day. Today I wanted to share with you my two go-to morning drinks. After trying so many recipes I have finally found my tried and true, and I hope you do too.

First up… my smoothie!

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz. Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • 1 Serving Vanilla Protein Powder
  • 2 Big handfuls of fresh spinach [I put in sandwich bags, freeze and then don't have to use ice]
  • 2 T. Almond Butter [any nut butter]
  • 2 T. Chia Seeds
  • 1 serving collagen
  • 1.5 T. MCT oil
  • 1/4 c. blueberries [I usually use for garnish]
  • 1 serving Morning Complete Supergreens

I mix everything up in my BlendTec blender - and pour it into my prettiest glass and drink.  This can be made the night before and shaken up the next morning if you are on the go.  It also can be used for lunch or dinner if that works better for you.

This smoothie has really been a game-changer in my health.  It tastes fresh and fills me up in the morning to start my day off right.  If I exercise in the morning, this is right after, as I like to work out on an empty stomach - and then fill it with what will feel good. The book Body Love by Kelly Leveque is a great guide to get you started (another favorite in our family is lemon blueberry smoothie), and helps break down all the scientific reasons why this combination works which is always so interesting to me!

Next up… coffee! While I know most coffee drinkers have their go-to cup, I have loved finding ways to get all of my health benefits into my morning cup and still taste delicious.

Some days I have a regular cup of black coffee with Natural Bliss Creamer, and other days, if I want a richer coffee experience in the morning, I omit my MCT oil from my smoothie and pour my coffee into the BlendTec, add my Vanilla Cream Primal Coffee Creamer (which has MCT oil in it), and blend it for 30 seconds.  It comes out frothy and smooth… and I didn't have to wait in line for it!

Though a morning drink may be simple, it’s what you are waking up and filling your body up for the day with. Make it delicious, and good for you! I hope you enjoy these recipes and make a mental note that I’m here for the next idea if you have it! Never be shy to share back with us what is working for you, after all that is the point of this anyway!
