Serene Space

Sometimes we create a home around everyone else’s needs and forget our own. Being selfless is part of being a mother, a father or even a partner. It is important to look at what matters to us most and how it will make other people feel. For one of my clients, having a place to get ready at the beginning of the day and to wind down at the end of the night was a priority (after a generous amount of “wishes” for her family members).

We chose a “blush” color to reflect her feminine mood and made it a serene space for her to start and end her day in, and a space of must-haves for getting ready efficiently [kids and dogs are counting on her!].

Elegant bathroom with twin sinks, crystal chandelier, and orchid. Soft pink walls, framed art, and vintage wooden chair create a cozy ambiance.

The Process:

To get this look we found a paint color that resembled ballet slippers. We paired it with an existing gorgeous, rich toned Kalim rug that brought the blush back to a more sophisticated place.

Creamy soft pink paint splash with a smooth texture and a glossy finish on a white background.

The double sink was selected for its functionality, as are the medicine cabinets that are framed with a favorite picture moulding that I cannot ever get enough of [it is referred to as bead moulding]. So, again, we have mixed “pretty” and “serene” with functional. Having two sinks allows our client and her husband to get ready side by side. This allows them to get out the door faster. Spending more time outside of the walls of their house is important to them and we couldn’t agree more!

Elegant bathroom with beige walls, large mirror, wall sconce, and shell art. Marble countertop with metal faucet over a white sink.

We love the bamboo frame for the sea shell print. It reminds us of Old Hollywood glamour and the sconces…..how simple….but the finish on them make it. Hand applied, antique gold with a glass bobble to finish it off. Julie Neill Designs….we thank you for these beauties!

The chandelier, pictured on the first photo, was purchased by the client for their powder room in their former home. She was in Argentina visiting a friend and saw this and bought it on the spot. So, this small and slim chandelier is not only beautiful, but meaningful. We knew we loved this, and needed to find just the right spot for it. Success! Nothing like having pieces from another part of the world to enlighten your day!

Elegant chandelier with five candle-like lights, bronze frame, and hanging crystals on a white background. Sophisticated mood.

The part we love most about this house is the way our team approached this extensive remodel. We took our time and made each space work for their lifestyle. I was just at the client’s home this morning to drop off some goodies for the dining room, and I teased her about having to move soon, and she said to me, “I will not be leaving this house anytime soon, unless it is in a pine box.”  Well, I think she likes it…and that is the best compliment I have ever heard.
