The age old question, “What’s the best countertop for MY kitchen?”

The truth is, that really depends on YOU!

What are you initially drawn to? Do you love the look and feel of natural-made slabs of granite, quartzite, or marble? Are you ok with some possible imperfections? Or do you need your space to be bulletproof and withstand the wear and tear of everyday life?

It may come as a surprise, but there is no right or a wrong answer here. Finding the better option comes down to your desired look combined with your expectations of the space.

For instance, I love the look of marble but it’s a bit soft for me to use in my kitchen. I really like the lighter color of a natural material. So, I opted for quartzite in my kitchen because it’s harder than marble, softer than granite, but lighter in color and resembles marble. I chose a satin finish. This countertop works well for me and my family. I enjoy the patina of the overall stone. It really enhances the kitchen.

There are equally beautiful kitchens and baths that use Quartz (ground stone mixed with polymers and epoxy and poured into a mold with color particles) and are equally amazing. Benefits of Quartz include color and movement control, and antimicrobialwhich is very nice to have in a kitchen. There are now satin and matte finishes available that enhance the depth of the quartz which also makes this material even more desirable.

All in all, every space and all clients are different. Finding the best fit for you will be based on a good assessment of your style, lifestyle needs, durability and maintenance of the material, and budget.
