Customized Storage Solutions

No matter what you do for work, every office needs storage. Without appropriate storage options, your home office can quickly become cluttered and disorganized- not the ideal environment for getting work done!

However, every individual, home, and job has unique storage needs. Some prefer open shelving, while others like everything tucked away behind closed doors. Incorporating charging spaces and electrical outlets in strategic locations, including inside drawers, ensures a clutter-free workspace. When coming up with your home office ideas, consider what kind of storage would suit your needs best and make sure every item has a dedicated space!

Lighting

Adequate lighting is crucial for productivity. Natural light is often best, as it’s been proven to improve both mood and productivity. However, if your workspace is near a window to let that natural light in, consider window treatments to minimize screen glare.

Task lighting, such as desk lamps, can also provide focused light where you need it most. If you tend to work early mornings or late nights, you’ll want to invest in good overhead lights or floor lamps.

A Look You Love

While it’s important to be practical, especially in an office setting, it’s equally as important to be creative! One benefit of working from home is the ability to create a workspace that serves both your professional needs and also inspires you! Consider your personal taste as you choose pieces of furniture, paint (green walls are definitely having a moment), and fill your home office with elements that create a sense of style you’ll enjoy working in.

Favorite Home Office Designs

While we’ve had the opportunity to create many well-loved home offices, one that stands out is our Shingle Creek Cottage project. This space features a perfect blend of painted and wooden elements. Though compact, it is incredibly functional and centrally located in the home, earning the nickname “The Hub.” It also offers the convenience of doors that can be closed for privacy. This beautiful home office was so special because it showed how truly functional even a small space can be: the power of a well-designed home!

We are also loving one of our current home office projects! This office is being designed with upholstered walls and a stunning walnut desk, complemented by three sofas. The space leans toward the luxurious elegance the client is looking for without compromising on function or quality. We can’t wait to see it all come together!

We customize each home office design to meet our client’s specific needs and personal style, whether it’s a vacation home, lake house, or permanent residence, so the products we reach for vary depending on that unique project. However, there are a few tried and true products that fit almost any home office:

While not a specific product, we also recommend adding a little texture to your office. It can make a big difference! Consider wallcovering the back of your bookshelves for just a touch of sophistication.

While a few thoughtful pieces can and will elevate your office space, try not to overdo it. Keep accessories minimal and well-chosen to avoid clutter that can add stress to your workplace!

I think we can safely say that working from home is here to stay for professionals across a myriad of careers. Why settle for a desk crammed into a corner of your room or a messy kitchen table when you have the opportunity to create a dedicated home office of your dreams?
